Actor Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views Following Voicing Contentious Covid Documentary
Liam Neeson has given his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and praises ex- government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Disputed Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a well-known publication published by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for assertions that the virus was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The publication's co-author, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality the Infowars host. He recently posted praising Neeson's role in the documentary.
A Firm Denial
A spokesperson for Neeson have provided a comment pushing back against claims that he subscribes to anti-vax sentiments.
"Many recognize that unethical practices can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
It noted that the actor had no hand in the project's messaging and that inquiries about its assertions ought to go to the creators.
Major Claims Featured in the Documentary
In the film, the narration provided by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It argues that "research has become deeply politicized."
- Kennedy is interviewed stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- The film takes aim at Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it cites a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Controversy and Ongoing Issues
It also references a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the subject of a formal apology by the network for editorial breaches.
Recently, Kennedy called on the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, even with a new report from the WHO reiterating no connection has been found.
A Previous Record of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has in the past expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he described vaccines as "an incredible triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
The documentary finishes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This isn't the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
