Democratic lawmakers Criticize Trump After He Suggests They Should Face Execution

Lawmakers from the Democratic party expressed fury after former President Donald Trump alleged a group of Democratic congress members of being "turncoats" and declared they should be arrested and sentenced "through capital punishment" following their posting of a controversial video.

The Recording That Sparked the Dispute

The video footage, published on Tuesday, features six Democratic lawmakers who in the past acted in military or intelligence positions.

"Like us, you all took an vow to defend and defend this constitution," the officials stated in the short video. "At present, the dangers to our governing document are not only from abroad, but from within our own country. Our statutes are unambiguous, you can reject unlawful commands, you can decline improper directives, you should refuse improper directives. No one has to execute directives that contravene the statutes or our constitution."

Donald Trump's Incensed Response

The recorded statement reportedly provoke a angry reply from the former president.

On later in the week, Trump published on his preferred platform: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these betrayers to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another message, he stated: "This represents really concerning, and Dangerous to our Nation. Their words cannot be allowed to remain. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a third post, he continued: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, liable by DEATH!" He also shared a comment that said: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Opposition Officials Respond

Following Trump's comments on Thursday, Top Democrats issued a unified announcement censuring the statements.

"Political violence has no role in the United States," they wrote. "Elected officials who participated in the video all acted our nation with great national pride and excellence. We unequivocally censure Donald Trump's offensive and harmful death threats against elected officials, and call on House Republicans to vigorously do the same."

The opposition officials also mentioned that they had been in touch with security officials "to ensure the protection of these officials and their loved ones."

"Donald Trump must immediately take down these unhinged online messages and retract his violent discourse before he causes harm," the announcement added.

Lawmakers' Firm Reaction

The officials who were featured in the video also published a declaration.

"We are ex-military personnel and security experts who care for this United States and made an oath to safeguard and uphold the national charter of the United States," they declared. "Our pledge continues forever, and we intend to maintain it. No intimidation, pressure, or incitement will deter us from that important responsibility."

"The significant point is that the ex-president deems it subject to penalty by capital punishment for us to restate the statutes," they stated. "Armed forces members should recognize that we have their protection as they fulfill their vow to the constitution and duty to obey only legal commands. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our obligation."

They stated: "The entire nation must join forces and denounce the president's demands for our death and partisan aggression. This is a period for principled stance."

Further Partisan Comments

The Senate Democratic leader also condemned Trump's remarks and shared on digital platforms: "We must be absolutely clear: the former president is calling for the execution of public representatives."

He stated: "This constitutes an clear THREAT. Every Senator, every Representative, the entire nation – without partisan consideration – should censure this immediately and without qualification."

The Conservative official justified Trump's claim that the Democrats had participated in "treason", labeling the video as "extremely improper", commenting: "It is very risky, you have prominent officials of Congress advising soldiers to ignore directives, I think that represents unprecedented in the nation's past."

The GOP official also according to sources told journalists that in what he examined of Trump's messages, Trump was "explaining the violation of rebellion" but that "lawyers have to parse the language and decide all that."

Executive Branch Response

During a White House press conference on later that day, when questioned by a journalist, "Is the president want to kill elected officials?", the administration spokesperson replied: "No."

"We should understand about what the president is reacting to," the spokesperson said. "You have current representatives of the US Congress who worked together to orchestrate a recorded statement to individuals of the national defense, to active duty service members encouraging them to disobey the executive's lawful orders."

She added: "The sanctity of our military relies on the hierarchy, and if that chain of command is compromised, it can lead to casualties, it can lead to chaos, and precisely what these members of Congress ... are basically promoting."
