Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
