Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
