Trump Calls Families of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the White House
President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their memory.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Attendees came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her former high school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to assist people.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event led the government to pause asylum applications and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to his relatives.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
